The Château Fleur Cardinale's past hints at a rapid rise to grandeur due to man's enthusiasm
and the intrinsic qualities of the local environment. For a long time the property sold its
entire production in bulk to the Bordeaux region's traders. The turning point came in 1982
with the arrival of the ASSEO family. They worked hard to considerably improve awareness
of the château which made it possible to sell to wine merchants.
The other important encounter to write a new chapter in the history of this chateau took place in May 2001.
Dominique Decoster, the former owner of Haviland porcelain in Limoges and seconded by his wife Florence,
became its new owners. They deployed a harmonious infrastructure with an ecological approach.
With a simple yet modern style, they immediately invested in the latest wine-growing equipment.
They had a new fermenting room built with stainless steel tanks for plot-per-plot winemaking,
including a wine store with brand new barrels.
This investment now enables wine to be produced that is acknowledged by both the profession
and consumers as one of the best Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.
