Geographical location

Château Fleur Cardinale, located to the South-East of the famous Saint-Emilion plateau or "limestone table" in the Saint-Etienne-Lisse district, is the ideal place to produce fully-mature, full-bodied grapes. Perfectly perched on the heights of the "aux mille châteaux" appellation - 90 metres above sea level - this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru gets its unique character from carefully kept and meticulously worked vines.

Fleur Cardinale, in terms of cadastral size, is considered to be a "grand domaine" (large estate): 18 hectares. Indeed, the 5,400-hectare appellation (both Saint-Emilion and Saint-Emilion Grand Cru) is a patchwork of small wine producers, an average of 5 hectares per château.

Perfect harmony between pedology and varieties of vine

To achieve the desired results and quality requirements at all times, Fleur Cardinale can count on the good drainage of its argilo-calcareous-based soils, which are behind the notoriety of the wine from the Bordeaux region and in particular from Saint-Emilion.

Enhanced by a rocky base with chalky concretions, our vineyard favours Merlot production which represents 70 % of the plantation, the remaining 30 % shared evenly between Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
